About Portmore

Portmore Loch constitutes over 100 acres and is situated in a secluded natural setting within a remote portion of the private Portmore Estate located approximately 17 miles south of Edinburgh and within easy drive of the Glasgow area.
The loch, which dates back to the ice age, has operated as a private fishery since the end of the 19th century when Loch Leven strain brown trout were introduced to supplement the indigenous brown trout population. Today’s trout population consists of both brown trout species and is further supplemented with hard fighting rainbow trout.
With its idyllic natural setting and rich ecosystem, Portmore lends itself very favourably to imitative dry fly and nymph patterns.
